to Increase Reading Skills in Youngsters

 

I saw an article about this. Unfortunately I did not save the article to use it as a reference. But since this is not a college paper or even a scientific document I can just tell what it said. Someone noticed that children from homes that had deaf family members read better than children from other homes. They investigated and discovered that in all those homes the closed captioning option on the family TV set was on. The kids were either consciously or subconsciously improving their reading skills by being exposed to the written version of what was being spoken. That was it. The families were doing nothing else different.
